We hit up our favorite pumpkin patch this weekend. We always go to The Pumpkin Ranch. We have gone there each year since Henry was two. I have 2013 and 2015 documented on the blog and a picture here from 2014. I'm also going to consider this post my October edition of the Picture Perfect Project since I missed it last week!

I'm joining in with some fabulous ladies to be a part of the Picture Perfect Project. Each month I'll be sharing a few photos I've taken with our Canon EOS Rebel T3i. (This month I used my phone.) I decided with this challenge to focus on documenting of each of our boys in their element. It might look messy, but I just want these photos to capture the every day life we have. I don't really plan to edit the photos in any way except for possibly cropping them a little.

Phew, I feel like I was JUST here doing the picture perfect project last week, but alas it's been a month! I took these photos on Labor Day when we were just hanging out in the yard playing!

The pictures I took this month were from this morning! That's why I'm a little late posting. It was a slow summer morning where rain was threatening, so we just hung out.

The pictures I took this month were on the morning of the Fourth of July. We didn't leave the house much on the Fourth, and I was a-okay with that. The weather was GORGEOUS with the high being right in the upper 70s. It was pretty humid but we didn't have to sweat it out and I was glad.

This month I'm just going to let the pictures speak for themselves. We were hanging out front one morning while Russ and the boys were working on a Minecraft-like chest for Henry. Lots of measuring, cutting, hammering and watching were going on. The lighting wasn't the best since it was either super bright or super shaded, but I wanted to capture the moments the best I could nonetheless. Enjoy!

I usually knock out all of the pictures in one day or one afternoon, but this month, I found different opportunities to document the boys just when I thought they were doing something fun. I've been keeping my camera on the kitchen counter so it's easy to grab, do a quick white balance, and shoot away!

This month, the weather is starting to warm up. The grass is greening up. We all seem to be in a bit lighter moods. I captured these pictures on Sunday afternoon. Russ was mowing and the big boys were playing outside.

{Henry}

Henry was having a blast kicking a ball around the back yard. His focus was apparent with his tongue coming out. I want to remember that he was very aware that I was snapping away and had some Minecraft stories to tell me as we went.

{Wesley}

Wesley was pretty much too busy with his water beads to give me much attention. He was rockin' his pajamas because he'd changed out of his church clothes into PJs for nap. Looking down on me from the deck, he pretended to blow bubbles as I snapped pictures of Henry.

{Calvin}

This kiddo is a busy body. He was digging in the cabinet in the kitchen with all the plastic dishes; it keeps him very busy. He is on the move and was watching his brothers through the screen on the sliding doors. He knows how to turn on his smile and squeal for sure.

Bonus of Russ mowing! :)

And, Russ took a picture of Calvin and me. I wore him while I snapped pictures of the big boys.

So, I totally planned to get out the DSLR this month, but we were outside playing, and it was just too much to go back inside and get the camera. So, I snapped away with my iPhone. These were moments I just wanted to capture! Enjoy!

This month's pictures were captured on our snow day, which was February 2. The lighting in the house was just great with the sun reflecting off the snow. I took more than three pictures of each boy, but I am sharing just three (and a little bonus at the end). I realize a few are a little out of focus; something I need to work on for sure.

When Henry was six weeks old, Russ and I did what many new parents do, and hauled him in to get some professional pictures taken. We spent absolutely way too much money for the quality of photos that we got, and we decided we'd instead buy our own DSLR for future kiddo photos. Now, we still get family photos done every year, but besides that, we wanted to do our own. Russ has done a fifty billion times better job at using the camera than I have, but this year, I'm taking a stab at it.

We have 17 - 55mm lens. Russ tells me it's called a "walk around lens and it's 2.8 aperture all the way through. Just passing along that info for you camera junkies. I am really just learning how to use it. I can white balance. I can change the aperture (though I didn't when I took these photos). I can attempt to use the rule of thirds (sometimes).
