I used to be terrible at making sure my make up brushes were clean. Partly it was because I didn't really use them a ton, but partly it was because I was lazy. Dirty make up brushes aren't good for your skin. Depending on your source, people will say you should clean your brushes anywhere from daily to monthly. I probably fall more into the monthly range, but I would really like to get to a being a person who cleans their brushes about once a week.

Because I can't get enough pom poms, I'm back this week with a simple and cute pom pom tassel earring tutorial! These can be made in all types of color combinations and they are pretty light weight, so they won't hurt your ears!

Pom poms are all the rage right now, and I love the pop of fun they give to an outfit. I have seen pom pom necklaces in a few shops, but I didn't see one whose color scheme really was for me, so I decided to try to make my own! Today I'll show you how I did it!

All you'll need is some scissors, embroidery thread, pom pom beads (I found mine on Amazon) as well as tape and a safety pin (not pictured).

I cut super long pieces of embroidery thread. I would guess I cut at least three yards. I didn't en up using the whole length, but I went for having too much instead of trying to add some on. I used three different colors, tied them together in a knot, pinned the knot to my jeans, and then I simply braided them. This definitely took me back to middle school years and friendship bracelets! The braiding took a while, but it would easily be something you could do while watching TV.

I kept stopping to check the length. I wanted it to be long enough for a necklace plus a little extra length because you'll need it when you tie knots a couple steps from now. I think I finished with about 60 inches of braid, but you could probably do 50 or 55 inches and be okay.

Next, I took the tape and taped off the end of the string very tightly and cut it at an angle.

Then, I measured up about six inches and tied a knot. I used the taped end to thread through the pom pom bead.

Then, I tied a knot on the other end of the pom pom bead. I repeated the steps of measuring, knotting, adding the bead, and knotting again until I got to the end of how long I wanted the necklace to be. For me, I repeated the step six times.

Last, I took the original end and tied it in a knot between the pom pom and the last knot I tied. I cut all the strings off.

It looks cute alone or layered with a shorter necklace. My monogram is from Southern Joy Designs. Use code BGSJD10 to get 10% off yours!

Also I thought it would be fun to send a couple readers a kit to make their own pom pom necklace. I have three different color combos to give away! Comment below on which one you'd like me to send you and I will pick three winners (US mailing addresses only, please).

{Yellow, Orange, White}

{Teal, Blue, Purple}

{Blue, Green, White}

Please comment by Monday, June 29th. I'll pick three winners on Tuesday, June 30th!

Need a quick and easy way to color your Easter Eggs without much fuss? Today I'm sharing a way that can be accomplished in just minutes!

I got the crafting itch again. This time it was for something to pep up my table. I went to my felt stash, saw orange and green, and knew it could make an adorable carrot! It's so easy you can do it too! I whipped them all up in less than 30 minutes!

Having little ones, it's truly hard to decorate. Anything I put out usually gets picked up and taken somewhere else. I know it's just a stage, but I really miss having some decor in our living room. I've seen some really pretty trays, so I decided to decorate one myself to fill my crafting itch and make something the boys can't bother too much.

One fun thing I've had in my craft stash for years is an old dictionary. I've decorated a few things with it including a bust that I keep my necklaces on and some other home decor. I got the tray, paint, and Mod Podge at Target's craft section.

First, I gave the tray two coats of paint. Looking at the final result, I think it could have used three coats because it was a little streaky still at the finish.

After allowing the tray to dry, I cut a heart out from one of the dictionary pages. It's always fun to read the definitions and see what words they decided to illustrate on the margins.

Next, I put a coat of Mod Podge down on the tray and placed the heart where I wanted it to go.

I topped the heart with more Mod Podge, smoothed it out the best I could, and let it dry.

The end result definitely has a DIY look to it, but I like it. As I sit here and write this post, the tray already has a toy in it, but that's kind of a given around here. I know the tray will get lots of use and add a pop of color to my home!

My Valentine decor is lacking around the house, so I thought it would be fun to have the boys help me make something. Again, I'm a craft supply hoarder, so I had everything I needed to make this project at home!

People often say to me, "I don't know how you do it all!" Now, I don't do it ALL, but I have a lot going on which may lead people to think I'm an overachiever, and over the past year, I've become more of a paper calendar person to keep it all in order. There's just something about writing things down and seeing things on paper that is appealing to me. I have a calendar for my personal life, a calendar for the blog, and a calendar to map out lesson plans at school. Today I wanted to share a cute little addition I made to my blog calendar to keep me organized.

Christmas decor is all packed away in our house. I wanted to decorate the front door somehow, but I am just not quite ready to get Valentine's decorations out. I wanted something with a little winter look, and what saw winter more than a scarf? This DIY was so, so easy and really took about 10 minutes from start to finish!

Sometimes it's good to be a slight hoarder. I hoard craft supplies, and it really comes in handy when I get the crafting itch. Especially on a day where it's -10 degrees and I don't want to step foot outside my house! This weekend I got the craft itch, so I pulled out some supplies and made these beauties. These would make a fun late minute gift or just add a little to the decorations you already have! Here's how I did it:

I always try to add a little personal touch to gifts we give to teachers, whether is making something home made or adding in something that's their favorite color. This year my teacher gifts aren't all that personal, but I wanted to add a little tie on that gave a homemade feel. We have a Dollar Tree that is just minutes from our house, so I find myself going there a lot. I had the craft itch, so I headed there yesterday to see what I could find to make something fun.

When we were on vacation this summer with my family, I brought along some photo both props that I'd purchased from somewhere. I thought it would be fun to make up some Thanksgiving themed ones for our upcoming celebration and I wanted to share them with you!

Making some sort of Tooth Fairy tooth holder was something I've done for a few other people, but I'd put off making for Henry. He's six, and a tooth could be lost any day. This week, he actually has to have a tooth pulled. It will be his first lost tooth, so that kicked me into gear to make something for him. I wanted to make something that you could duplicate, so I hand sewed it instead of using a sewing machine since I know not everyone has a sewing machine.

I've always been a crafty person, and believe it or not, sharing crafts was the reason I really started this blog in the first place. Having littles and getting back into the swing of things with school has really had me stressed, but I made sure this past weekend to make a little time for myself to create, and here's what I came up with.

I'm SO excited to share this DIY with you today.  Pom-Poms have been so in lately, and adding them to bags and accessories has been huge, too. I thought it would be fun to make my own version of a pom-pom clutch with a little twist! If you can cut, measure, and glue, you can do this!

I was really in a DIY mood one day. I painted up a frame for St. Patrick's Day, and I decided to do a little Mason jar craft as well! It was so, so simple!

I have quite a few Mason jars around from when we canned salsa a few years back. I dug out some green paint from my stash and found this fun gold calligraphy pen as well.

I was searching the good 'ole Pinterest for some inspiration, and I came across a sign that said, "Lucky to Be Blessed." I thought it would make a perfect St. Patrick's Day frame!

One of my goals this month was to create something. Valentines decor had been on my mind, so I thought about what I could make that wouldn't cost a ton. I'd eyed some fun tassel banners in the Target dollar spot. I didn't grab them, but decided to make some myself. I think they were $3 at the dollar spot, but a) I wanted to make something and b) the materials for this could make at least half a dozen banners.

I love a cutely wrapped gift, but I don't always have the time to gather the supplies needed to wrap said cute gifts. Enter Darby Smart!  Darby Smart is a site where you can purchase craft supplies to feed your creative soul. They're teaming up with Gap to offer a gift wrap set that is so simple and totally versatile! I love that it includes brown paper. Next year my goal for wrapping is to wrap just in brown paper and accessorize in different ways. This kit was a good precursor to that! I got to try out the kit early, and here's what I came up with!
