I have (as of the day I wrote this post) 3,802 pins on my Pinterest Boards. Sifting through them and actually doing them can be a struggle, but every so often, I actually try something out from there. Today's project is one of them, Straw Rockets!

So, I feel like all I've talked about on here for a little while is getting the house ready to sell and fashion, with a little life and Jamberry sprinkled in there... and my week this week has really consisted of most of that (the house is listed and we've had a couple showings, yay!), so I decided to change up this Friday's post with some forward thinking to when we do move... and what I'll make for the house. I feel like my DIYing is kind of on hold until the house sells, since we're trying to avoid messes and basically make it look like no one lives at our house. Today I'm sharing a few Pinterest pins of what fun decor projects I would like to do for our new house, whenever/wherever that may be!

This pin has been around for a while. As I was browsing Pinterest this weekend during naptime, I came upon it again, looked through my fabric stash, and decided to give it a whirl. Nothing like a project where you have all of the supplies on hand already.
I was browsing though my Pinterest boards and landed on my Things I Made board. I pinned things to this board way back before I blogged here and had a blog on Posterous (which is now closed down). I'm so glad I pinned some things there, because it brought me back to some clothing restyles I did which I cost nothing or very little. (Pardon the very poor quality pictures, but they are from my cellphone before I had a nicer iPhone camera.)

Tank Dress - This idea came from this tutorial. This was the only of these three projects I actually had to buy something for. I already had the fabric, but had to buy the elastic for the waist.

This was inspired by this pin. I used scraps of tank top I had from the above dress and pleated them around the collar of another tank top I already had. I feel like everyone has a handful of these Old Navy tanks hanging around.

Skinnies were not in when I was pregnant with Henry. I ended up buying a few pairs on sale to feel stylish while I was pregnant with Wesley, but I also used this tutorial to change a pair of bootcut pants into skinnies.

So, there ya go! 3 ways to change up the clothes. I'd love to hear if you try one out!

I honestly don't know how people buy multiple containers of baby cereal. We barely went through one with Henry and this time around with Wesley, he's maybe had it straight up two times and the rest were mixed with veggies or fruits. He's recently become Mr. Independent and will not be fed by a spoon, so everything we feed him has to be finger food. I still had half a container of rice cereal in the cupboard.

I've had this recipe for teething biscuits hanging out on one of my Pinterest boards for a while. I remembered that it's meant for using up baby cereal, so I gave it a whirl.

I really only made one change to the recipe from the one from my pin. It called for 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, but we don't have that around our house much, so I subbed butter, softened almost to runny. The reason I used 3 tablespoons instead of 2 was out of pure laziness. I had 3 left in the fridge, and I didn't feel like cutting it.

1 cup flour
1 cup dry infant rice cereal
1 ripe medium mashed banana
2 tsp cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons water

Her recipe also said you could try 1/3 cup sweet potato or carrot. I have one jar of stage 3 sweet potato left, so I think I will try that next time.

How many of you have a BAZILLION pins on Pinterest but rarely go back to look at them?

*crickets*

Yeah, me either....

Not.

I have almost 3,000 pins. Yikes.

So, I have a Pinterest Board devoted completely to pumpkin things. I. Love. Pumpkin. And this is the best time of year for it, though I have been known to whip up a batch of pumpkin muffins in the heat of summer.

Last week I made two different pumpkin recipes.

These, pumpkin scones...though they don't look very pretty (Russ said they look like fried chicken covered in gravy, and I agree), they taste wonderful, were very easy, and I'm definitely making them again soon.

I also made this pumkin frozen yogurt. It was pretty good. Not awesome, but a fun treat.

This past weekend our fire department had their biannual pancake breakfast. Henry just enjoys it so much.

Wesley slept through some of it. :)

Russ's buddy, Luke, was in town visiting, so he got to experience the joys of the event.

Henry got to use a fire extinguisher.

I hit up the dentist on Monday. She loves to support my business, so she asks that I bring goodies for her and the girls in her office to buy. I made up a basket and will pick up what didn't sell next week when I have to go get a filling. Boo on the filling, but yay for some possible business!

Wesley is learning to sit up unsupported. He's 6 months old! We dug this fun toy out of the garage a week ago, and he's been loving it.

What have you been up to lately?

When I saw this pin, I thought that it would be an easy thing for Henry and I do make together this summer.

It truly was SUPER easy.

I got a 2 liter of orange soda and a 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk.

I have the ice cream maker attachment for our KitchenAid mixer. It's a big bowl that is kept in the freezer and a special mixing blade attachment. I don't use it often enough, but I just keep it in the bottom of our deep freeze and dig it out when needed.

It's kind of small, so I only put in one liter of soda and 7 oz of sweetened condensed milk.

Then, I turned it on stir, and let it go for 30 minutes. Henry kept coming back to check on it.

After 30 minutes, it looked icy!

It was icy/soupy, but what homemade ice cream isn't? I dished it up.

Henry loved it and asked for seconds and thirds. After a bowl for Russ and me, too, I still had a few cups worth left that I put in the freezer. I'd love to try this with rootbeer!

Today was a hot one here in Iowa. I dug into my summer craft Pinterest board and decided it would be a perfect day to try out ice chalk.

I used the blogger's suggestion of 1 part water to 1 part cornstarch. I had about 2 cups cornstarch on hand, so in it went!

I separated it out into 3 measuring cups to do different colors. I would recommend using something with a spout to mix it in so it is easy to pour into ice cube trays.

I've switched to gel food coloring when I bake, but I knew I kept this liquid around for something!

I just squeezed in a lot.

This is how it looked before I poured it into the trays.

I did yellow and red and then mixed some blue and yellow together to get green.  I put them in the freezer at about 8 am. After Henry's nap, at about 3:30, we got them out.

He was excited.

But, then he got pretty mad because he couldn't figure out what to do with them. I will admit that a tantrum occurred complete with ice chalk throwing.

So, I took a picture of them while he fussed it out.

Eventually he came back and drew on our back sidewalk.

Then he discovered he could draw on the fence.

He also learned he could make them stick to the fence.

And then he figured out he could color himself...

He dripped it all over his legs.

His digger also made an appearance.

This is his "I'm the green Incredible Hulk" face.

This wonderful stuff kept our boy engaged for at least 45 min. I was working on stapling fabric to his twin box springs (fail...). We used two of the three ice cube trays I made, so I still have one in the freezer for another day.

All in all, this was fun. I was nervous when the tantrum happened, but he rallied and had a blast! He went straight to the bath when he was done, and I'm happy to say, he is no longer green. His shirt already had paint on it, and his shorts were cut-offs, so I'm not worried about what happens to them.

Linking up with Motivate Me Monday over at Keeping It Simple Crafts and The DIY'ers over at Home Coming.

It's been hot around here the past couple days. I saved this idea to my Summer Checklist Pinterest board just for a day like today. (It's now moved to my Tutorials and Ideas I've Used board.)

I got a new job, so I've been cleaning out my classroom in preparation for the move. I found some fun little caterpillar and spider toys as I was cleaning. I knew they would be perfect for this idea. I gathered a few other random toys from around the house. I threw them in a plastic shoe box and put it in the freezer (which needs defrosted desperately, I know!) One key was that some of the toys float and some sink, so they weren't all on one side of the ice chunk.

The next afternoon, after nap time, I told Henry I had a fun outside surprise for him.

We gathered a couple tools, though the hammer proved to be the most used.

It looked a wee bit dangerous, so we got out some goggles.

The excitement really started when the first toy, a plastic spider, came out.

Here's a short video of the boy in action.

The goggles didn't last long, but that's ok.

This boy was entertained for almost 45 minutes.

He even learned a few things like he could throw ice chunks to get it to break instead of using the hammer. He talked about the colors of the toys he was finding. Another wonderful thing I can say is that no one was harmed during this activity. Henry never hit himself with the hammer!

All-in-all it was a great idea. It was so easy to do and he had a blast. I'm sure we could do it again later this summer with some other random toys, and he would think it was awesome.

We had my family (my parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, niece, and nephews) over today. The guys golfed, and the girls stayed around here with the kiddos. It was a super fun day, and I pulled out an old recipe I had forgotten about but love.

Strawberry. Summer. Cake.

It's a recipe from smitten kitchen. It's seriously so. good. so. easy. All the ingredients, besides the strawberries, are things you'd normally have around.

Also, I found a fun little Pinterest t-shirt idea, so we made them for all the kiddos, with their help of course.

Because of the guys being out golfing, it was my responsibility to get the grill going. This isn't just a "turn on the gas" grill. I had to get the charcoal going for our beautiful green Weber! To say I felt accomplished is an understatement.

It couldn't have been more perfect weather! We got out the bubble machine, squirt guns and the sprinkler.

I LOVE SUMMER!
