I thought it'd be fun to share some things I've been loving lately. From food to bath bombs to making my life better, read on!

I'm not a Pinterest Mom by any means, more of an Amazon Prime Mom, but I do love to make the cakes for my boys' birthdays. Sometimes it's cupcakes and sometimes its a full out cake. For Calvin's birthday last week, I went to Pinterest to get some inspiration for a monster truck cake, and then I put my own spin on it.

I took a Wilton Cake Decorating Class at my local Michael's Store back in 2011 and the things I've learned have come in handy so many times.

Today I wanted to walk you though how I made Calvin's cake! I realize the lighting isn't fabulous, but there's only so much you can do when your'e working on a cake at 9:00 at night.

Honeybear Brands sent me their new Pazazz apples to try. Pazazz – an all-new apple variety, ten years in the making, is finally here and available for local apple lovers to try before most other places in the country get their chance to take a bite.
I pride myself in being pretty organized. Though I don't have it all in check, in the past two years we have really tried to meal plan better. I set the meals for the week, shop once, and we're done. Over the summer we got a little bit lax and were going to the grocery store more than I liked which usually meant spending more money than I liked.

Revving up for back to school, I wanted to get things in check. In the past I would sit down and plan out just a week and honestly it would stress me out. I mean, I know things we typically eat, but did we have it just last week? Was it a meal the boys would eat? Was it easy?

We eat early at our house. I walk in the door somewhere between 4 and 4:30 and the boys are begging for food. Instead of snacking (which eats up money), we try to hold them off and get dinner on the table around 5. This doesn't allow for elaborate meals. So, a few weeks ago, I decided to sit down and knock it out. I planned four weeks of meals that we could rotate so I wouldn't go crazy trying to brainstorm things every week.

Every year for the past nine years, we have taken one weekend late in the summer and headed down to southern Iowa with some other couples to have some kid-free fun. We usually just hang out, go boating, play some out door games and sit around the camp fire. It's a great way to reconnect with friends without the kids around. Russ and I have been digging sangria this summer, so we decided we would mix up a batch to share!

We love a good s'more around here, and today I wanted to share a couple fun ways to do s'mores that aren't the typical graham crackers and chocolate.

If you know me, you know my love of pumpkin runs deep, but a close second place is peppermint. I love peppermint lotions, gum, and snacks, which makes me totally love this time of year and all its peppermint goodness! Today I wanted to share a yummy and pretty simple snack mix that involves peppermint. I whipped this up in less than 30 minutes from start to finish!

I love making holiday treats but I don't always love the mess or the hot oven when baking, so I thought I would try something fun and make some holiday Cocoa Krispies and Rice Krispies Treats. I chose both to do both Cocoa Krispies and Rice Krispies  to please the chocolate and plain treat lovers. Right now, Target carries the limited edition holiday colored Rice Krispies cereal, so I was excited to include it in this recipe!

Happy National S'mores Day! I've always been a s'mores lover! Russ and I even had s'mores for a date night a while back. Today I'm sharing a twist on the typical s'more with a fun peanut butter s'mores bar recipe. Enjoy!

My boys are big Angry Birds lovers. They've played the Angry Birds game a lot. We haven't had the most luck in making it through movies in the theater, but at home movie nights are way more successful. We were super excited to find out that the Angry Birds Movie was just released and we could stream it online!

I thought it would be fun to make a snack to enjoy for the event, so we made simple Angry Birds fruit pizzas.

A traditional recipe that brings me right back to growing up is my mom's meatloaf. It's one of those comfort foods that just tastes good and is also easy to make. Today I'm going to share this recipe with you along with an easy DIY to help pretty up and organize around your kitchen sink!

Church gets out at 11:15 or later during the school year, and with naps happening at 12:30, we don't have much time to mess around when it comes to lunch. Quesadillas have become a tradition because they're quick, easy, and everybody loves them. I like to mix it up every once in a while and try a different type of quesadilla. Hawaiian pizza is my favorite type of pizza, hands down, so I decided to make it in quesadilla form.

Today I'm sharing a little about my new love for Ragu Homestyle sauce and how we're working to make simple traditions for our family around the dinner table.

One thing that somewhat surprised me on the survey at Henry's last yearly check up was the question asking us how many nights a week we eat dinner together as family. It didn't surprise me because it was hard to answer. It surprised me that a six year old might not eat dinner with his or her family every night. I am so grateful that at this stage of our life, we are able to slow down and eat dinner together almost every evening. I know this won't always be the case.

We celebrated Wesley's third birthday on Sunday with friends and family. I love a good themed party. Wesley has been in love with Mickey and Minnie for over a year. Last year I went back and forth on Elmo or Mickey, and I ended up picking Elmo, thinking it would be easier. It wasn't. There are TONS more Mickey and Minnie birthday supplies readily available! I was able to get most of my supplies from the Dollar Tree!

This little man LOVED his party!

I love a good snow day. Multiple snow days, not so much, but a good one or two in a year, and I'm happy. The day before a big storm was predicted, I opened up my Pinterest desserts & sweets board looking for a yummy little snack. I came upon This Little Home of Mine's Snowman Mix. I used the recipe for inspiration and changed up a few things, so I thought I'd share it with you!

If you know me, you know I love a simple recipe. I was perusing the grocery store a couple weeks ago and stumbled upon holiday color Rice Krispies and peppermint marshmallows. I just knew they were meant to be together.

I'm all about easy when it comes to baking. I don't keep a super deep pantry, so making sure I have all the ingredients can sometimes be daunting.

Today, Cake Mix Cookies. Super easy and just a couple ingredients.

See, just a couple things! It's easy and quick!
The leaves have started to fall here in Iowa. One thing I love about our "new" house is that it still has mature trees. Our old house had a HUGE tree, which had too many leaves to deal with. The tree here has just enough to be fun. Last Thursday night we got out the rake and played a little.

I'd had this recipe in my mind for a little while and the ingredients in my cupboard for a while. One Sunday afternoon, I decided to whip them up, and I almost got too far in to the recipe before I was like, "CRAP, I need to take pictures because this is totally blog-able!" I was able to backtrack a bit and get all the steps captured for ya!
