I don't have a ton of "if I could go back" moments, but my baby registry is one thing I would go back and fix if I could. I felt like I'd read up on things, but after three kiddos, there are a few things I realized I missed. Now, I'm not saying it was an all-out fail, there were many things I got right.

{The Wins}

1. I didn't register for fancy baby bedding. I got some fitted sheets, a fun fleece blanket that matched some decor I'd purchased, and called it good. Bedding sets can be so expensive, in my opinion, and the bumpers that come with them are not breathable. Target's Circo brand was a perfect trendy yet reasonably priced option for sheets and blankets when I did chevron bedding in Wesley's nursery.

2. I registered for gender neutral items. We didn't know if we were having a boy or girl the first two times around, and it made purchasing those big items a no-brainer. Although we ended up with all boys, I'm having an easy time re-selling our items because they are gender neutral. My boys don't wear yellow and green clothes all the time, but their swaddles, big items like swings, and car seats are all gender neutral colors.

3. I registered at Target. Target is my #1 go-to place for baby items. With the 5% Red Card discount, their frequent gift card deals, and great brands, it is the store I go to for all things baby. I especially love their Up & Up formula, baby snacks, and baby food pouches because they are right on par with the name brands and they cost less!

As informed as I thought I was, I did make some mistakes. If I could have a baby registry do-over, I would fix a few things.

{The Regrets}

1. I would try a variety of bottles.

I'd heard a certain brand was "the best" and so I bought a ton. Then, Wesley hated those bottles. If I had to do it over, I would buy a variety of bottles to try out. The first one I would try is the Playtex VentAire. The bottle has so many great features including the ability to buy a multi-pack of different nipples to see what works for your baby, one of which is the Most Like Mom® NaturaLatch® Nipple which makes switching from bottle to breast easier. It's Anti-Colic bottom vent helps keep air bubbles at bay.

Playtex bottles are located in the bottle aisle of the Target Baby section.

2. I would do my research on baby carriers. I went the cheap route on this one. I didn't really try on a baby carrier or ask people's opinions on what they had used or liked. I just saw one in the store, thought, "that looks good," and registered. If I could do it all over again, I would ask to borrow a friend or two's carriers to see what works before I invest.

3. I would register for a Diaper Genie.

I thought I didn't need a Diaper Genie the first (and second) times around. In our old house, the kitchen garbage can was near the nursery, so I used that, and boy, it was a hassle. You can imagine the smell, and the continual hassle to take the really stinky ones outside (which is really not fun in Iowa winters). This time around, we moved to a different house, so I needed a garbage in the nursery out of necessity. I figured I would try a diaper pail, and I pity myself for not having one sooner. With the amount of time you'll spend changing diapers, upgrade and get the new Diaper Genie Complete.

Changing diapers is something you will do over, and over, and over again. Having the Diaper Genie Complete on hand can make the unpleasant duty of diaper changes a snap. It has a carbon filter to absorb strong odors, its refills are the only ones with a 7-layer bag to lock out odors, and it has a double Air-Tite® CLAMP. The best feature of the Diaper Genie Complete for me is that is has a foot pedal, so you don't have to even touch the diaper pail! Calvin is getting so wiggly, so being able to step and toss the diaper is a lifesaver.

The Diaper Genie Complete can be found in the aisle with the nursing pillows and travel items in the Target Baby section.

What do you think? What are your registry suggestions? Have you considered the Diaper Genie Complete?
