Going out to eat with kiddos is always an adventure, but going out to eat with a little one who is just getting the hang of this whole eating solo thing and doesn't have a mouth full of teeth yet can be an adventure.

Today I wanted to share what we bring along with us that helps my sanity when we go out to eat with our young toddler. Calvin is 13 months old. He's not officially toddling, but he's not truly a baby anymore. He's not content with mama feeding him, so we have to have lots of goodies to encourage his independence, help him be nourished, and not make a hot mess everywhere in the restaurant. Here are some things I have been keeping in the diaper bag to make life easier when we dine out:

1.  Those high chairs can be questionable and also not that comfortable. I love having a high chair cover (which works for shopping carts, too) to give our little man some extra support and cleanliness. I got this one used, but I linked a similar one.

2. I don't go overboard with toys, but have a couple can be helpful. I got the soft fabric book from Ikea years ago. Though they don't carry it anymore, it looks like they currently have a cute option.

3. Having a bib stashed in the diaper bag is huge. When Calvin eats on his own, it can get messy! These Bumkins ones are my favorite when the kiddos are older, though the Aden + Anais burp bibs are my favorite when they are smaller.

4. Wipes. Enough said. I'll be carrying these for years to come! They are so handy to clean up those messes, especially his little fingers and face, after he eats.

5. Sippy cups are always helpful because it's something he can control, though they are often thrown around a little. I don't have a brand I'm super loyal to, but I like soft spouts when they're this age.

6. Snacks are also vital to get us through the waiting (and many times the meal). I love Gerber snacks and apple sauce pouches. He's JUST getting to the point where he can somewhat eat a pouch of applesauce on his own.

7. Snacks are great, but lately that's about all Calvin will eat. Honestly I worry if he's getting enough nutrients, so we've been adding in Stage 3 Gerber® Good Start® Grow Toddler Drink to some of his meals, especially when we're out to eat and I don't have my whole fridge to rummage through. It's easily portable and can just be added to water.

Stage 3 Gerber® Good Start® Grow is specially designed for toddlers 12-24 months, and is a nutritious toddler drink with probiotics to support digestive health. It nourishes toddler tummies so they can focus on what makes them, and you, happy: their growing independence. It contains probiotics to support healthy digestion, has essential nutrients such as Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Potassium, and contains no GMOs.

I'm excited to be teaming up with Gerber to give away a "Welcome to Toddlerhood Kit!" which contains Stage 3 Gerber® Good Start® Grow Toddler Drink as well as some goodies like a sippy cup and more!
