August Darby Smart: Homemade Soap

Darby Smart's August to DIY For box was a soap making kit.  I've never made soap before, so it seemed like a fun venture! The box included: a big block of soap, poppy seeds, lemon scent oil, a soap mold, and a card which directed me to the directions online.

First, I cut up the soap into 1" cubes.

Then, I put the cubes in a glass measuring cup and melted them in the microwave in 30 second intervals.

After it was melted smooth, I put in some of the lemon scent oil.

I added some of the poppy seeds, then stirred it up.

I poured them into the mold and put the mold in the refrigerator.

I had some extra soap mixture, so I made a couple star soaps in a silicon star mold I had.  The soap set for 45 minutes, then I popped it out of the molds.  Easy as that!  I think these will make great gifts!

Have you tried Darby Smart yet?
