I've always been a crafty person, and believe it or not, sharing crafts was the reason I really started this blog in the first place. Having littles and getting back into the swing of things with school has really had me stressed, but I made sure this past weekend to make a little time for myself to create, and here's what I came up with.
All of these supplies were ones I had around the house. That's one good thing about being a semi-hoarder of craft supplies, I can usually dig up sometime to do if I really think about it! I used a dark pink acrylic paint, white acrylic paint, a gold calligraphy paint pen, a canvas, and a pencil.
First off, I free handed the phrase I wanted on the canvas. I will admit to you that I messed up once and went on to a second canvas for what you see here, but I saved the messed up canvas because it can totally be used for another project. If you're nervous about free-handing, you can always trace or use the DIY carbon copy method I used here.
Then, I traced the pencil with the gold pen.
I decided I wanted the confetti I painted around the words to have a little ombre affect, so I put the white on the paint in varying amounts.
Then I added in the dark pink.
I mixed up the paints and added a little more red or white if I felt it needed it until I got four different shades of pink.
Next, I used the pencil eraser as my tool and put polka dots of the lightest pink on the canvas at random.
Then I added on the next darker pink.
And the next darker pink.
Finally, I added the true dark pink that I started out with. That's it! Isn't it fun? I hung in next to my desk in my classroom.
What do you think?
