DIY Mason Jar Welcome Sign

My friend Becky here at bybmg asked me if I would like to do a guest post and of course I was pumped. I was immediately inspired to create something awesome for you. 

We are in the process of staging our home for sale since the husband took a new job. He just finished staining our front porch and we needed to give it a pop. A wreath just no longer fits between the doors since we replaced them. We needed a welcome sign and I wanted something easy to change out for the seasons. So, I bring you the mason jar welcome sign.

How to make the Rustic Mason Jar Welcome Sign-

What you will need:

1. wooden sign or reclaimed wood
2. mason jar and ring
3. twine
4. acrylic paint (I used 3 different colors)
5. flowers in any color you like
6. welcome letters (I found a wooden welcome lettering already together)
7. your house numbers and first letter for last name if you choose
8. hot glue gun

The first thing I did was to paint my jar, the letter and numbers and my welcome lettering. Give it at least 12 hours to dry completely. After that I used sandpaper to distress my mason jar.

Heat hot glue gun. Place your lettering and numbers where you would like them to go. Glue them into place. Remember that if you are using a welcome sign or lettering pre-made to work quickly as the glue dries fast. Place the ring around your mason jar and then wrap with twine and tie in a bow. Place the bottom of the jar at the bottom of your sign. I didn't do this and my flowers hit right at my welcome sign. I had to trim them pretty short. Use the hot glue on the back of the jar and place on the wooden sign. I held it there for about a minute and it set perfectly. Its not going anywhere.

Fill your jar with flowers. Hang and enjoy!

   

This entire project minus dry time took me about 45 minutes. I could have saved money using a stencil for the lettering or numbers but I had a few coupons and thought this might work out better for my needs. The entire project was about $22.00.
