Lessons in Fashion:
a sporadic series where I share little tips with you that help make my wardrobe stretch.
Today's Lesson:
There are degrees of pattern mixing. Find the degree that you're comfortable with and try to kick it up a notch.
1 - Stripe Skirt and Floral Shoes
Necklace: Kendra Scott via Rocksbox
(Use code beckygoerendxoxo for your first month free)
Top: Gap
Skirt: LuLaRoe
Cuff: Gorjana via Rocksbox
Shoes: Express c/o Brandzaffair
If you are deathly afraid of pattern mixing, getting a pair of patterned shoes is where to start! Pair them with a striped top or skirt, and you're inching your way to the next degree.
2 - Stripe Skirt and Lace Top
Necklaces: Kendra Scott and House of Harlow 1960 via Rocksbox
Top: Banana Republic via Thred Up
(Sign up with my link and get $20 to spend!)
Skirt: LuLaRoe
Shoes: old
Now, this may not seem like a pattern mix, but it's a subtle one! The textured lace top takes you to the next degree because the patterns are right next to each other though the floral lace doesn't have multiple colors. It's a flirty, fun mix!
3 - Stripe Skirt and Bold Floral Top
Top: Target
Braclets: Lauren's Little Luxuries
Skirt: LuLaRoe
Shoes: old
This is the highest degree! A nice stripe and a bright floral. I love it. It's fun, but not clashy. With a black and white stripe, you can mix it with a lot.
What do you think? Are you ready to try it out? Which are you most comfortable with? Pick one and then take it to the next level!
Also, check out this post from last fall about pattern mixing with scarves and tops!
