Lessons in Fashion:
a sporadic series where I share little tips with you that help make my wardrobe stretch.
Today's Lesson:
How to style a jean vest
A jean vest can be a great completer piece. It's wonderful for the summer, too, because it adds a nice finish without adding much warmth to an outfit. I made this jean vest from an old jean jacket and added the lace for a little extra detail. You can read the tutorial here.
Here are a couple ways I've worn by jean vest:
Over a tank top with a maxi skirt
I struggle sometimes with wanting to wear a tank top to school but not being ok with the width of the straps. Adding a jean vest over top covers the straps but also adds a little detail to what could be a basic outfit.
Over a nicer dress
I got this dress and really love the fit, but it seems a little too dressy for day to day at school. Adding the jean jacked dressed it down a little bit!
Over a basic tee
Plain tees are my go-to top in the summer. They are comfortable and go with so much. Adding the vest over the tee just completes the outfit without adding warmth. I haven't worn this outfit *yet* but it's in the plan for when school starts up in the coming weeks!
I've started a Pinterest board to gather jean vest ideas. Check it out! Have you styled a jean vest? I would love to see your post and add it to my board.
